With a studio located on the shores of Lake Ontario just west of the bustling metropolis of Toronto, Michael Swerdlyk is an independent writer, photographer and artisan with a passion for capturing moments, incidents, images through prose, pictures or other media.
Focusing mostly on nature, flora and fauna, Michael's inspiration comes from his annoyingly acute observant eye, his sharp if a bit askew insight, and the beauty he discovers hidden in the drab world which surrounds him.
Michael has several years of formal education and experience, as well as a professional designation, in a totally unrelated field. He doesn't own Photoshop, can't properly measure a third, plus he may very well be colour blind. And with a father who was an award winning outdoor writer and photographer who didn't pass on any of his expertise or wisdom, Michael specializes in unrefined photographic art.
Michael refuses to refer to his lenses as "glass" but he loves them just the same and will detail mm's, F's, IS's, USM's and L's to you even though you truly don't care. And his eyes will sparkle the entire time. He believes there is a distinction between a photograph and a graphic and the line is crossed somewhere in post production. He is so pretentious that he wears tight black turtleneck sweaters and thick rimmed glasses at all times. ALL TIMES. Michael thoroughly enjoys the process of producing photographs that he thinks look marvelous. And he hopes you garner as much happiness in viewing them as he did during their creation.
